Should I have my Makeup professionally done?

Updated: Jul 11, 2018

I get it. Professionals can be expensive, from the actual application, to the lashes, to the call out fees. Especially if you’re a woman who doesn’t wear much makeup (or no makeup at all), or a woman who knows how to do your own makeup to your satisfaction, and having YouTube, as well as all these amazing videos by makeup artists and influencers showing us HOW… Should you pay to have your makeup professionally done??

Firstly, I have to mention that the choice is entirely up to you, and also depends on the expectations you have.

On one end, having your makeup done by a professional allows you to feel pampered (which we all love), but also gives you one less thing to do on the day of your special event, it’s not often you witness a wedding running on schedule – you don’t want to compromise on your appearance.

If your concern is that you don’t wear makeup often, or don’t want to look too different from how you usually do, most professionals have gone through training and mastered a ‘Natural’ makeup look, which most Brides request, just be wary of contradicting that request by having a reference image showing heavy ‘Instagram makeup”.

Tip:

Having a destination wedding and don’t have the budget to fly an artist out? Book an artist for a lesson where they teach you how to apply your own makeup for your special day. That way you will learn the skills on how to work with and enhance your features, and it’s a skill set that will be with you for a lifetime.

A professional will also have all the correct, high quality products in their kit to prep your skin prior to the makeup, and ensure a long lasting application that enhances all your best features, all while looking amazing in photos – which your photographer will love you for.

On the other hand, you may only feel comfortable with the way you do your own makeup, or may be having a destination wedding and don’t have the budget to fly an artist out. I would then suggest booking an artist for a lesson where they teach you how to apply your own makeup, as well as lashes for your special day, as opposed to winging it. That way you will learn the skills on how to work with and enhance your features, and it’s a skill set that will be with you for a lifetime.

As mentioned above, the choice is yours, but I would definitely say it's something each and every woman should experience once in their life.

xoxo
